Analysis of ex student
the muisc video we see friendship through a medium shot angle, where we as audience see
the good side if friends having fun. Although we see friendship, we also see two teenagers that
are in 'love', which is a similar to out video, where we too show love and friendship.
However, there were a few things that did not work very well, and this was the lighting. As they filmed this at night and we as audeince have a bit of stuggle to see the actors/characters. However, to avoid this
mistake when doing ours, as we are also filming outside, we decided to do the filming drung day time when the sun is out.
They also acheived the Goodwin's theory, by matching the lyric with the music and vise verse.
First Scenes Filmed
These pictures show our first scene being filmed
in a Drama studio. In this scene we had a bit of stuggle, because when we were filming we

As seen on the picture on the left, the drama studio is quite big, this was bonus as this meant we could move around the room and take different shots of the dancer doing different movements, in which these include: medium shot, medium close up and a long shot, where we would see the dancers full body.
Possible locations to film
These pictures on the left hand side show possible locations that we could film, we decided to choose these places there is not a lot of people walking past, and this means that we don't have to worry about people walking past, disturbing our filming.
We also decided to choose these places, as they match the song lyrics, for example one our ideas is to have a couple walking a long beside each other
while the music says 'if you love somebody better tell them what you feel', these are places where boyfriends would usually go to, as they would want to be by themselves.

However, since we are going to have friendship as
the theme, we wanted to show a dancer dancing to
to again match with the lyric 'I'm on top of the world',
the message behind this scene would be work hard and achieve your goals in life.
Not only we wanted to have a message, but we also wanted to show how beautiful it is to have friends, this
is also where we decided, to have three friends having
fun, in this beautiful background.
We token these pictures when the sun was out, so that we would get a real idea of how the image is going to come out in the camera.

Analysis of music video
Lorde- Team
Music analysis
Camera- Throughout the music video there is a mixture of camera angles, the begining of the music video is quite different to others music that I have researched on as this one actully we get introduced to the scenario and then the singer through a mid shot, where the background is very dark which is actully hard for the audience to recognised the artist.
Sound-When we get introduced to the music video, we actully hear digetic sound of the sea waves through a high angle. There after there is a change to the sound of the singer voice which is quite intreasting as it makes the audience wonder if the music is going to continue.
Editing- This video shows a continuing scene, the images almost fade to match with the rhythem of the song.
lighting- This video is very different when it cames to lighting, as compared to Beyonce-xo music video, where Beyonce is located in a dark background there is key lighting on her to make sure that the audience see her clearly, but in Lorde- Team video is almost they are trying to hide the main artist, as she is seen in the dark where her face is quite hard to see due to the clauds effect in the dark.
Mise en scene- we see constanly the main artist located in a dark background, this is done so it matched with what she is saying. The video shows a abandom place where it matches the lyrics where she says, ' we live in cities youll never see on the screen not very pretty but you'll sure we know how to run these'. This is done constanly it's almost like it's a narrative video.

Analysis of music video
Foster the people- Don't Stop
Analysis of music video
Camera-
The beginning of this music video is very different from the previous clips
that I have seen, this music video actually shows a through a medium
close up of the door, the name of the song displayed. This is quite cleaver as
it’s done discreetly, but however, this was not a very good because, if you’re
a person who doesn’t read signs in the video clip you won't recognise it's
there, as personally I saw it after I played the song a few times. There are
certain angles that match what they are trying to do, which is being funny, so
it is important that they high light and show clearly to the audience what is
funny. An example of this is, when the girl starts driving, they showed her
foot accelerating and stopping constantly through a low angle shot and after we
then a high angle of the car, where we see the effect it has of her
accelerating and stopping quickly making us laugh. But when we think we saw it
all, she then drives into the cops, and we see one of the cops face expression
through a medium close up, making the audience have a bit of a laugh for
longer.
Editing-
The editing it a cut away, which matches the rhythm of the music.
Mise en
scene- The mise en scene of the clothing of the actors matched the message they
were trying to send to the audience, they decided to have one of the group
members dressed completely different to what we expect him to look like, the
other two members of the group dressed up like cops. This surprised the audience,
as when we see them first time we don't recognise them straight away.
Analysis of a music video using Goodwin's theory
Beyonce-XO
Goodwin's theory analysis
Through out this clip the female also the main artist is seen throughout the clip, Beyonce is seen main through extreme close up with the focus pull, so we as audinece can only consentrate on the artitst. The lyric match the music video clip for example, when it she says 'In the darkerst night out' shows staright after a camera panning turns towards a cuple, where we then through a mid shot kissing in the night, staight after she says' you better kiss me before they turn the lights out'.
Analysis of music video
Camera angles- This video varies on the cameras angles, at the beginning we are introduced to the artitst through a close up of her face lip singing. Then through out the video we see various shots of the artits at different stages close up, rule of third, mid shot, medium shots high angle and low angle.
Editing- Cross cutting is used throughout the clip to show different stages of where the artist has been, there is also a lot of cut this is to go with the music rhythem.
Voice over of a male at the beigining grabs the adience attetion to actually pay attention to what he says as compared his voice to her voice has a completely different tone, maybe suprises the audience as we are not expecting a male to speak but yes beyonce to sing.
mise en scene- The mise en scene is set mainely at night time, this done to match what she says in the song lyrics. There is alot shots that show focus pull, this makes the lights in the backgound blonder and standout. The artits is wearing a minnie ears headband with lights, this is to be funny and light up the mood of the music video. There are a lot of flashes being used for example flashes from camera, fireworks, lights in the background from the fun fair flasing, this is mainly to match what the lyric say,'baby love me, lights out'.
Light- Beyonce is seen through mid and medium shots, but always standsout from the people that surround her, this is done through the use of key light.
Analysis of similar music video
Pharrel Williams- Happy
When I fisrt saw this music video, it reminded me of my storyboard that my group had planned out music video to be. The images in my video clip that i visualised are very similar to this video clip.
Camera angle/Sound- This video starts with a focus pull and changes into a depth of field so that the audience focus on the main artis, when this happens we see him through a low angle mid shot this makes a connection between the audience and the artits, its almost like he telling the audience a secret. This is also an intruduction to Pharrel William the artist so that audience get familiar with his face an recognise him in the future.
The use of focus pull shown through a medium shot is done throughout the video clip so that the 'happy' characters expressions are clear to the audience. This is also goes with what goodwins theory say about lyrics matching the image we see, this is shown constanly and actully has an impact on the audince, as it makes us actully smile. To make it clear to the audience who is the artits he is shown through close up quite a few times through a mid shot lip singing.
Editing- All of the scenes change through cut, this happens quite quickly to again match with the rhythem of the music. The editor also choose to use cross cutting, as at the beginning the of the music video is cut then throughout the clip that scene is repeated.
This song has a lot of the images that we will include in our music video quick scenes being shown and a few are going to be repeated, throughout our music video.
